Five years ago, RecoveryWorks opened its doors to help our neighbors in crisis move toward stability.
Since then, we’ve worked alongside our partners across Jefferson County to expand access to the services and support people need to rebuild their lives. Today, RecoveryWorks provides Bridge and Transitional housing, Medical Respite, Street Outreach, addiction recovery services, and wraparound support that helps people move from crisis to stability.
I’m especially proud that this work continues to be recognized beyond our own walls. This summer, our partnership with Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital was featured in the Neighborhood Gazette, and RecoveryWorks was highlighted in a national SAMHSA publication for promising practices in recovery support.
None of this happens alone. It happens because of dedicated staff, committed partners, generous supporters, and a community that believes everyone deserves the chance to build a more stable future.

From $10 Short to a Fresh Start

Dillon, Jasmine, and their adult son, Isiah, were doing everything they could to get back on their feet. Like many working families experiencing homelessness, they found themselves trapped in an extended-stay motel. While they had income, the high weekly cost left little opportunity to save for a security deposit and first month’s rent. Despite working and searching for better opportunities, they simply couldn’t get ahead.
Then they came up just $10 short on one week’s rent. They lost their room.

Volunteer Spotlight: John
Meal Prep & Server

|
Every week, volunteers help create the welcoming community that makes RecoveryWorks feel like home. Meet one of them.
After retiring from a 30-year career that took him around the world, John spent years volunteering with Habitat for Humanity until a back injury made construction work impossible.
Several years ago, RecoveryWorks Board Chair Colleen Osborne introduced him to RecoveryWorks. He’s been coming back ever since, preparing and serving a homemade Wednesday meal for guests.
What keeps John coming back isn’t just the opportunity to serve, it’s the welcoming, family-like community he found at RecoveryWorks.
For John, volunteering is about more than giving back. “I contribute money, but that’s not enough. I felt like I needed to do something richer.”
Today, despite living with Parkinson’s disease, John continues to show up each week. “I enjoy it. I feel like I get a lot more out of it than I give. It’s good for the soul.”
As long as he’s able, John plans to keep serving. “As long as I can do something, as minor as it is, I’ll do it.”
People like John remind us that building stability for our guests and organization is about showing up, one meal, one conversation, and one act of kindness at a time.
