Finance Manager Job Description

Our Mission: The mission of RecoveryWorks is to create access to opportunities for community, recovery and resource alongside our un-housed neighbors.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of accounting for the organization. This includes accurate, compliant, and detailed management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, compliance, budgets, records and financial reporting. This role acts as a leader and partner to the Executive Leadership team by supporting strategic financial planning and analysis to drive decision-making and ensure sustainable growth. As part of a unified team, duties may be assigned as needed to support the organization’s mission and ensure the highest level of service to RecoveryWorks participants.

This is a full-time exempt position that reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with the leadership team including Executive Director and Fractional Controller.

Essential Responsibilities:

Payroll

  • Manage administration of and process Bi-weekly
  • Quarterly Homelessness Tax Credit
  • Monitor and facilitate accurate and compliant W4’s and
  • Monitor Unemployment, FAMLI and other payroll
  • Monitor and facilitate all payroll
  • Manage the administration of and process expense
  • Work closely with Human Resources to ensure compliance with state and federal labor
  • Work closely with Human Resources and COO to ensure Integrations of payroll systems and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all annual tax forms, worker’s compensation forms, tangible tax forms, and other governmental documents are completed in conjunction with payroll provider.
  • Collaborate with Behavioral Health and Operations Director, Human Resource in the selection and implementation of an integrated payroll system.

 

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Prepares bank deposits and
  • Process accurately all monetary, in-kind, and credit card donations received on a weekly
  • Track and monitor program
  • Monitor and facilitate
  • Process bank deposits and reconcile bank
  • Complete general ledger account reconciliations and report on month-end
  • Reconcile tracking spreadsheets, enter donations, and process
  • Respond to donor inquiries about gifts
  • Track and process all vendor
  • Process and submit all grant and other reimbursement

Reporting and Records with the Controller

  • Create and administer financial record retention
  • Create and submit Bi-weekly and monthly reports to Executive Director and the
  • Budget reporting, analysis, and
  • Oversees and manages the relationship and workflow with the contract accountant
  • Facilitate coordination with auditors to ensure effective communication, preparation, organization, and review.

Grants Compliance

  • Assist in preparing backup documentation for monthly grant
  • Maintain electronic grant files for awards and
  • Comply with state and federal grant
  • Advise allowable activity on grants from financial
  • Prepare for and participate in any grant program audits, reviews, and
  • Direct monthly financial documentation processes for

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality when interacting with budget and financial information and data.
  • Support managing the on-staff accounting position to ensure financial responsibilities of the account/administrative position are being completed accurately.

    Position Requirements:

    Skills Required:

    • Nonprofit accounting experience
    • Expert knowledge of
    • Proficiency in financial software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
    • High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity and
    • Experience managing account reconciliations, performing month-end and year-end close
    • Solid grasp and execution of accounting principles, including debits and
    • Familiar with revenue recognition principles, and accounts receivable
    • Knowledge of financial systems, grants, indirect cost rates, and standard non-profit finance requirements.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving
    • Excellent written and oral communication
    • Ability to both engage guests in services and set firm limits and
    • Able to advocate and negotiate in an assertive but tactful manner both internally and with community agencies, to have clients’ needs met.
    • Skill in operating office equipment, including computers (including e-mail), software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) and telephones.

    Skills Preferred:

    • Knowledge, work history and/or education specific to milieu management, day-center operations, addiction, mental health, housing and homelessness a plus.

    Work Location, Schedule, and Environment:

    • RecoveryWorks: Mountain View Flats – 14825 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO
    • Onsite required – potential for future hybrid working
    • Flexibility and capacity to work in a fast paced, fluid, changing work environment .
    • Administrative tasks will require work in a home office or office
    • Working on a computer for multiple hours at a time, sitting or
    • Wearing a mask when required by RECOVERYWORKS
    • Bending, twisting, and lifting associated with event site cleaning, cooking and facility indoor and outdoor maintenance.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Annual Salary/Hourly Pay Range: $65,000. – $80,000. Bi-weekly pay periods

    Job Description

    RecoveryWorks is a Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to create opportunities for community, resources, and recovery with our unhoused neighbors. Founded in 2021, RecoveryWorks has grown to fill a critical gap in the provision of services to unhoused adults in Jefferson County and the west Denver metropolitan area.[1]

    The RecoveryWorks Board is seeking to grow by one or more members. As a Board Member, your duties would include: developing and supporting implementation of the mission; overseeing finances; hiring and evaluating the Executive Director; fundraising; creating and maintaining a strategic vision; and acting as a representative of RecoveryWorks in the community.

     Job Requirements:

    • Interest in the RecoveryWorks mission
    • Commitment to understanding and supporting the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
    • Demonstrated skills and experience in collaborating and communicating effectively with others who may have varying viewpoints
    • Intellectual curiosity and ability to solve challenging problems
    • Commitment to reading and understanding financial statements and Board materials, and providing feedback
    • Full engagement as a fundraiser, active advocate and ambassador. This includes:
      • Collaborating with RecoveryWorks marketing and development staff

      • Leveraging connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to achieve RecoveryWorks’ mission

    • Engage in learning opportunities to better understand the community your organization serves and nonprofit Board service
    • Time commitment of 3-5 hours per month

     Preferred qualifications. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who:

    • Have previous experience serving as a Board member for a nonprofit; or
    • Demonstrate specific interest and passion for the RecoveryWorks’ mission through work or lived experience, volunteer work, or by other means;
    • Have expertise in a subject matter area relevant to work on the Board. Examples include but are not limited to: marketing, development, legal, finance, accounting, or community development. The board currently particularly welcomes finance and legal expertise, but encourages everyone who meets the requirements to apply.
