September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate recovery and recognize the many paths people take to rebuild their lives.
At RecoveryWorks, we think about recovery broadly. It can mean recovery from addiction, illness, homelessness, trauma, isolation, or a period when life has simply come undone. Every person's path is different.
Recovery starts with stability.
But across the many stories of resilience we see, one thing is constant:
A safe place to sleep. Access to health care. Supportive relationships. Meaningful work. Community. These are the building blocks that give people the space to move beyond surviving today and begin thinking about what comes next.
Throughout September, we'll be exploring what that looks like.
This month's featured guest, Cassandra, came to RecoveryWorks already several years into her substance use recovery. But after six years of homelessness, she was rebuilding in many other ways, too. Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery is rarely about just one thing. [Read Cassandra's story →]
We'll also share a perspective from Executive Director James Ginsburg on the role stability plays in recovery, join our community at Rally for Recovery on September 19, and introduce the Stability Circle, our new community of monthly donors whose steady support helps RecoveryWorks be there consistently for people rebuilding their lives.
Follow along throughout September as we celebrate recovery in all its forms and the stability that helps make it possible.
